You will be greeted by fascinating giant faces wearing slew of expressions – smiling, serene, serious, angry, scary, etc…. Our next stop is the Bayon Temple, which is built in the late 12th century and the Baphoun Temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, Ta Prohm, the Terrace of Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King and Phimean Akas known as "Heavenly Palace".
After lunch with local dishes, we will visit "Angkor Wat", the world's largest religious building. Angkor Wat – built by Suryavarman II (r 1112–52) – is the earthly representation of Mt Meru, the Mt Olympus of the Hindu faith and the abode of ancient gods. It now is the heart and soul of Cambodia.
Our day trip will be perfectly wrapped up by a visit to Pre Rub Hill Temple and admire the sunset from the top of the hill.
Our guide and driver then take you back to hotel in Siem Reap for overnight.
Enjoy your breakfast at hotel before being picked up by our guide and driver. Our first destination today is visiting Kbal Spean also known as “The river of a Thousand Lingas”. Kbal Spean is an intricately carved riverbed deep in the foothills of the Cambodian jungle. We will take a forest walk and then return to Siem Reap for lunch.
In the afternoon, we continue to Banteay Srei which means "The Citadel of Women". It is said that it must have been built by a woman, as the elaborate carvings are supposedly too fine for the hand of a man.
Banteay Srei is one of the few temples around Angkor to be commissioned not by a king but by a brahman. It is a masterpiece of Khmer art with intricate, pink sandstone construction and ornate design. On the way back to Siem Reap, we will visit Srah Srang, "The Royal Bath" and Banteay Kdei, a richly decorated Buddhist temple.
End up our trip with a delicious dinner while enjoying a special Aspara dance show, a traditional Cambodian dance performance inspired by the apsara carvings and sculptures of Angkor.
